Hello,
My name is Darren Hyland. I am 14 years old and I live in Leeds, UK. I am interested in Poetry, Rugby League, Computers & Parkour [FreeRunning].
Poetry has played a huge part in my life over the past year. I have used it to express emotions and say things my lips cannot speak. I have began writing a book which I havn't wrote in a while, taste the opening:
“This is 0239, Bravo! Can anyone hear me?” but there was no reply, just a long silence beyond the deafening sound he now listens to as his ear drums burst at the explosion of the last grenade. Temporary yes, but he didn’t know that. All he knew was that he was in the line of fire and almost unconscious. Everything was blurred as his vision slowly deteriorated. He was numb and only heard his own thoughts beneath the silence. Slowly, after a while he began to hear what sounded like a chopper, Apache. He was so skilled in the field, that he knew every sound and sight that he could easily tell from a distance what they were. The Apache itself was hovering several hundred yards away but the crew inside were getting out, yelling to each other “Quick, get Hyland out of there!”. The blurred sights around him began to move around like the effect of a hurricane. The sound of the chopper was getting closer but not moving, it was him in fact getting closer as the infantry and medics brought him out of the zone. Almost blind, seeing it as he did you would probably think you were as it was all dark but there was still sound. The sound was conversations between all of the chopper crew and pilots. He soon caught the end of a sentence “...these tests”. His vision was now back a little more. He took his orders knowing it was no time to hesitate, taking them as he came and they seemed to be vision tests. “Hyland, up a second!” shouted one of them, he wasn’t sure which but he focused his hearing hard on those words. He followed the hand up and down. As they sensed he was fine, just a little shook up. They would run further tests back at base and that was where he was headed, he was leaving Iraq.
‘4 months later...’
I hope to finish it soon.
Rugby League is also a huge enjoyment is mine. I'm currently envolved in a season with just having our first match. I support Castleford Tigers and hope to play for them one day.
Computers play a huge part of my life. I am going to take both ICT and Business Studies and also aim to set up a Social Networking website in my spare time. Without Computers, I wouldn't have much fun or as many decent friends.
Only being interested in Parkour for only 2 weeks physically, I have enjoyed it and take every oppertunity to run and explore Leeds in and out. I'm looking for a team, a gym and a strong partner that can learn and teach.
So this is me, enjoy. I shall write more tomorrow, peace.
